Can you hear me now?

After a day of pre-op testing two of my babies are set and ready to go for surgery tomorrow. Nathan and Alyssa are both getting some fancy new replacement ear tubes so they can hear their momma hollering at them! Alyssa is also getting her adenoids removed as they are so "adenoying" to her. Both surgeries are pretty simple, so we should be home by tomorrow evening.

I've discovered that very little will phase me medically ... but God threw a wrench in that this morning. During a routine echocardiogram it was discovered that Nathan has a narrowing of the arteries that go from the heart to the lungs. After tomorrow's surgery we will return to Children's Hospital to begin a battery of tests to determine if/when he will need surgery. There's just something about doctors fiddling with my babies' hearts and brains that gets me right in the gut. Dr. Johnson, the cardiologist said something to me today that made me think. "Miss Jones, I have to say that I've never sat in a room with 3 heart patients, all members of the same family. Look how healthy they all are ... you're doing something right." Of course Nathan, Allie and Brandon were sitting there so politely and looking too cute for words ... had he seen them this morning as we rushed around trying to get ready to leave that "something right" might be questioned!

Anyway, I just ask for prayers and good thoughts for my little stinkers tomorrow. Their surgeries are scheduled at 11 and 11:20 am.

Until tomorrow,
Kathy
