OK, so today was my first day of internal radiation (as opposed to the external radiation I received for 6 weeks.) YOWSERS! Not so fun! I will spare you the details, but I've come to the conclusion that my dignity and decorum are both out the proverbial window now. As I laid (or is it "lay"? Aunt Jeane ... can you help me with that one?) on the treatment stretcher connected to a probe, wires and radioactive nodes I felt a sense of oneness with those poor bulls who are stimulated with electronic probes to, ahem, produce samples that are later used to impregnate their female counterparts on the other side of the fence. How demeaning and emasculating it must be for them. I, for one, felt humiliated and defeminized today; however, I will do ANYTHING it takes and all that God wills for me to do in order to beat this cancer. I want to live a very long life ... I'll have grandchildren to spoil someday after all!
My mother, as many of you know, fought the "c" word for the final 3 years of her life. She learned to treat herself to some of life's sweet indulgences on occasion and I am following her lead. I've decided that a Fritz's "Up" (two scoops of heavenly vanilla frozen custard on a fresh cake cone) is well-deserved after every internal radiation treatment. MMMMMMMM! When it's all over I'm going to a steakhouse for the best cut of steak and a yummy baked potato with LOTS of butter ... and I'll eat "the WHOOOOOOOLE thing!"
So, treatment continues, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, God willing! I will continue to keep you all updated as I approach my "official graduation from cancer treatment" date in August, which befittingly is my Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary ... August 12th.
Love,
Kathy "I've Got My Glow On" Jones

Kathy,
You need Aunt Debbie for laid versus lay, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with lay, as in "now I lay me down to sleep".
Here I googled it for you... http://www.planetoid.org/grammar_for_geeks/lie_vs_lay_vs_laid.html
Love,
Aunt Jeane
