Today would have been my grandmother's 92nd birthday. Grandma Harper was a wonderful Godly woman. Some of my fondest childhood memories are those spent with her. I've talked about her little stash of candies called "Pinkies" in a previous blog. Grandma always had flavored sodas and at least 3 flavors of ice cream waiting for us when we came up to visit. She spoiled us, but also expected our best behavior. She made the best "garbage jello salad" (her's can not and never will be duplicated!)
Grandma passed away less than a year before my mother. I often imagine them together in heaven, waiting to greet us all as we come home. Although I'm in no hurry to get there, when my time comes I won't be afraid because they'll be there. Oh, to hug them again!!!
Today is also my youngest daughter's "half-birthday". She is 4 1/2 years old now! My little itty bitty isn't so itty bitty anymore! This day also marks her birth mother's 3 year anniversary of being clean and sober! Congrats on a huge milestone, Lori. I'm very very proud of you.
God must have decided to make June 17th a special day. I'm on my way out the back door to celebrate it with my kiddos. We're going to beat this 95 degree weather (with no a/c in the house!) by jumping into our grand wading pool and eating Bomb Pops.
As Grandma always signed her cards,
Happy Trails!!!!
Kathy
