Well, I have one week left on this round of treatment! Next Tuesday will be my last chemo and next Thursday will be my last external radiation treatment! It's only been 6 weeks, but it seems like forever. I did get promising news yesterday ... my CA-125 has gone down significantly! Before surgery it was 122. Subsequent tests showed it moving downwards from 65 to 47 ... and yesterday it was 22! In two weeks I'll have another CA-125 as well as a CT scan to determine the degree of metastasis of my cancer. Please pray that the surgery and treatments have eliminated it all. My body and my children need a break ... if only for a couple of months.

I wanted to tell you about a good friend and her story. Bridget DuMont (sister of Shannon Hoffman, whom I have mentioned in a previous post) has been battling breast cancer for over a year now. She is an incredible woman and a good friend. She's come up to the hospital to watch my children for me while I underwent radiation. She also prepared a spectacular dinner for us which included special food for Nathan (who has Celiac disease and can't consume gluten) as well as a letter with cancer survival tips for me and coloring books and crayons for the kids.
Bridget is participating in this weekend's Susan G. Komen's Race for the Cure along with many of her friends and family. Here is a link to her page at the Komen site ...

What moved me was a letter her sister sent out last night with a link to a video about what Bridget's husband, Ben, did to support his wife's battle. Here is the letter and the link.
Last Monday, my brother-in-law, Ben DuMont, rode the 225 mile Katy Trail to honor my sister Bridget in her fight against breast cancer. Today marks the end of her 15 months of treatment. We are filled with joy as she completes this part of 'her fight and celebrate her victory over cancer. Ben decided to take on the ride in order to honor her and raise both awareness and money to help the families that will be in their shoes in the coming months and years. I am sending a video of the ride that Ben took last week to share with all of you. I hope that this finds you happy and healthy. The DuMonts were also featured on a show last night on Channel 9 in St. Louis. A YouTube video of that program should be available in a few days. If you would like for me to send you a link, please let me know. Shannon http://www.legaciestoremember.com/race.htm
True love ... and a true hero. Thank you, Bridget, for sharing your story with us! Ben, thank you for showing us what true love is.
Until Tomorrow,
Kathy
