This weekend was a long time coming for a dear friend of mine. Yesterday afternoon my friend of many years, Esther Krief, married the love of her life, Patrick Popowitz. I had planned for many months to attend their ceremony, but a houseful of sick kiddos (and being ill myself) changed those plans.
Esther and Patrick had many challenges to overcome to get to their wedding as well! They traveled from Houston to Wisconsin (Esther's family home) for the ceremony. Patrick encountered a dead car battery at 4:30 in the morning ... the morning he was supposed to board the plane with his two children. Esther battled workplace challenges, missing wedding gowns, difficult bridesmaids, ill parents, fire and a hurricane in the final weeks before the wedding.
If Es and Patrick can make it through the last few months ... their marriage will be a breeze! I am so happy for both of you and although I wasn't able to be there, you were on my mind and in my heart all day. God Bless you as you begin your life together. May it be filled with love, joy and humor!

Who Is The Backyard Gang?
Mom calls us "The Backyard Gang" because when she's had enough of our noise and silliness she "lets" us go play outside in the backyard. She says she likes some "peas and quiet" every once in awhile! Well, we've never seen her eat peas while we play outside, but she sure looks happy and calm in her rocking chair ... that must be the "quiet" part!

- If you had told me 10 years ago that at the age of 36 I'd be the mother of 5 children I would have laughed ... but here I am. Somewhere in my life I must have done something right to be deemed worthy in God's eyes to be blessed with the 5 beautiful children who now call me "Mom" (and on occasion a few other choice words.) We were created by Him to be a family. It just took those ten years for us to find each other. Now that our family is complete, I've decided to sit down during my free time ... wait, free time? OK, that just doesn't exist around here ... but nevertheless, I'll sit down and spew thoughts and verbiage for no other reason than to empty my brain of it's clutter.
