25 Random Things

At the end of last year a friend encouraged me to join the social networking site called "Facebook". I was hesitant, but thought it would be fun to see who else was at the site ... people from my school days, relatives, friends, etc. It's been a great experience reconnecting with friends and family. One of the recent postings that's been going around the site is called "25 Random Things". I thought I'd post my list to the blog ... just as a way to fill space and share some nonsense stuff about me. I'd love to hear 25 random things about you too! Enjoy ...


1. I like lima beans and brussel sprouts, but not together.
2. I miss my mom, every day.
3. I went to three different colleges, CMSU, UMSL and Fontbonne ... earned over 145 credit hours and ended up without a degree to show for it! I loved it all!
4. I am Mom to five great kids ... but I stll want one more.
5. I love the smell of rain.
6. I've been a pool cashier, a game room attendant, a camp counselor for kids with special needs, a program assistant for adults with special needs, a producer of tv programming at my college station, a telemarketer, a shoe salesman, a loss prevention manager, a lead teacher, a nanny, a receptionist, a bank teller, a safe deposit vault manager, a personal banker, a commercial banker a teller supervisor, a bank manager, a high school discipline office secretary, a high school staff and office manager, a high school nurse's assistant, a crisis medical nursery manager, a subcontractor for a special needs agency, a foster parent, a state level rep in Jeff City on the Foster/Adoptive Board, a volunteer and presenter for a couple of foster/adoption agencies ... all since turning 15. None of these "jobs" can even begin to compare to the joy I find in being a mom.
7. I've owned one condo and 3 homes ... but I still don't feel "at home." I want to live outside of the burbs, on some acreage where my kids can run freely and I can tend to my little garden.
8. I love CSI, The Bachelor, Antiques Roadshow, Iron Chef America and old early 80's sitcoms.
9. John Cusack? HOT!
10. I don't remember if I was Kathy Circle or Kathy Square.
11. I used to live on Pepsi, but I haven't touched a soda in a year. Now it's iced tea and lemonade.
12. I don't let my kids drink Koolaide.
13. I hate the sound of crickets and cicadas.
14. I love the smell of puppy feet (smells like crackers).
15. I love the smell of newborn babies even better than puppy feet.
16. I want a string quartet to play at my funeral ... I don't need anybody to talk ... just listen.
17. My favorite flowers are daisies.
18. Two of the kindest and strongest women in the world I've ever met are the ones who let their husbands remain my best friends after they married.
19. I have very few close friends, and I'm OK with that. I love them dearly.
20. I hate cleaning. I need a maid.
21. I don't understand how one chooses to run great distances on purpose. I am in awe at those who can.
22. I have cancer. It sucks.
23. My favorite meal is corned beef and cabbage. No wait! My favorite meal comes the next day ... reuben sandwiches!
24. I am an aunt to the cutest kid in the world ... he is one of the reasons why I'm still here. I have to hang around long enough so I can load him up with pixie sticks, gum and koolaide, then send him home to mommy and daddy! I WILL be the cool aunt!
25. I am a Christian and I am grateful that God has given me this time to be who I am, to love and to live.
