Happy Memorial Day weekend! This is one of my favorite holidays ... a time when families get together for some great summer food, and a time when we take an extra special moment to thank our fellow brothers and sisters who serve our country, protect our Constitution and fight for our freedom every day of the year. Please make sure to sit down and talk to your children about why we celebrate. And please take some time to thank your family, friends, church members, neighbors (etc.) who serve in our military now and in the past. We are certainly blessed to have heroes like them! A special thank you from our family to cousins Brandon and Heather, and dear family friends, Danny and Don, for your service. We love you all!
We've had a busy last week. Anita and Nathan have "graduated" to middle school! Isaac is now a 4th grader! YAY! After a semester of struggling grades, my kids were able to bring all of their grades up to A's and B's ... honor roll! Believe me, there were days when I was ready to scream! I'm not a fan of excessive homework ... but my kids are even less of fans! Fortunately they pulled through so we can spend the summer doing more fun things and less homeschooling.
This weekend we were able to close on our new cabin in Illinois! I've been itching to get to the hardwood floors ... they are lovely now! It will take us a few weeks to get all of our supplies and furniture out there, but I have a feeling we'll be spending more of our summer days on the lake than back home in St. Louis!
Chase is still with us. We're loving every minute with him. As Isaac says, "He's like our missing puzzle piece." We anticipate that he'll be heading back home with his mother shortly.
I received more good medical news on Friday. My CA-125 has gone down, again! It is now at a "6". My surgery on Wednesday was uneventful. I was out pulling weeds the next morning. Chemo resumes on Tuesday morning, then we'll head back out to the cabin on Wednesday to get some more work done.
Have a blessed holiday! God Bless America!
Kathy
