I apologize for not keeping up on the blog lately ... I'm still without a working modem. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!!! ;-) But really, we've been so incredibly busy that the computer has not been a top priority. This afternoon I had an opportunity to stop by Dad's house to get some chores done and decided to sit down for just a moment to say "HI!" to all of my blog friends and followers. I'll share a few pictures as well.
Medical stuff is all the same. I'm still doing well. My last CT Scan came back showing "no change" with my tumors and no new tumors. My doctor said that I am "stable" and we'll keep on keeping on for awhile. I was hoping to have a month or so off of the chemo, but I remain grateful to have this special time with my kiddos!
Chase has spent the last 6 weeks with us, but is heading home tomorrow morning. He's grown and changed in just a short period of time. We'll miss him terribly. Please keep him in your prayers. I worry about him constantly and continue to remind myself that God is in control. He's our honorary Jones kiddo.
Next month is our Harper (my mom's side) Family reunion in Nashville. The kids are so excited about the trip! We'll travel with my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and father. It will be a true family vacation!
We're enjoying the cabin out in the country. The 15 acres is a perfect place to relax. The kids love the freedom of riding their bikes and running up and down the country lane. As the furniture and appliances have begun to arrive, it is looking more and more like "home". I'd love to raise my children in a home like this someday. I'd probably have to add a horse or two, but everything else is perfect! The kids love the wildlife that surrounds us. We've chased turkeys down the road (man! they are dumb birds!), identified many different kinds of birds (grey herons on our lake, indigo buntings, red-winged blackbirds, turkey vultures, sparrows, hawks, etc.), and we've even seen a red fox, lots of turtles and a beaver living by our barn!
I've enjoyed getting the cabin ready for visitors. The hardwood floors have been cleaned and polished, new fixtures are going up, trees have been trimmed, and lists have been made for handymen, plumbers and contractors. We even have a gentleman coming out from the Illinois Department of Conservation to give us ideas to maintain our lake (which is populated with fish, turtles and many different plants like a weeping willow tree at it's edge and multiple groups of cat tails/reeds.) I can imagine spending many years visiting our new family get-away. And maybe, in another 15 years or so, spending time with my children and grandchildren at the Mike and Peggy Jones family reunion!
I will post a few pictures below, but I must sign off for now. The kids are ready to head out for a goodbye dinner for Chase. Their request is the St. Louis Chinese restaurant. Sounds good to me too!
Until Tomorrow,
Kathy
We have beautiful vegetation on the acreage, which includes many wildflowers, and my mother's favorite, Queen Anne's Lace.

The Backyard Gang joined our good friends (The Yetter's from Happy Tales Farm) for an afternoon out on the town. We we to the theater to see Toy Story 3 and followed that with a walk out on the town square where the kids put on performances on the outdoor stage and just acted silly, like all kids should do!

This is my little princess, Allie, wearing her tiara and jewels from her little brother, Chase.

This is my teen princess who still has moments where she looks young. This growing up stuff is so hard on a momma's heart!

The kids accompany me when I go to the Siteman Cancer Center in downtown St. Louis for my daily post-chemo shots. They love to ride the elevators to the top and watch the cars and people below. If they are all "good boys and girls" while I receive my treatments then they get to pick out a 15 cent candy from the gift shop. More often than not, they are always angels!
