Today, my three youngest (Isaac, Alyssa and Brandon) were all baptized, surrounded by friends and family. Isaac said to me before leaving for church, "Mom? I know about baptism, but I already have Jesus in my heart! I guess this way I'm just telling everybody that He's there already."
The pastor preached his sermon and spoke about how some families, when speaking of baptizing their children, say "Let's do it." like it's something that you get done TO your child ... like getting their immunizations done, or registering them for school. For my family it's something that I anticipate for so long ... just waiting for their adoptions to be finalized so I can profess my complete love and trust in the Lord by giving my children to Him and promising to bring them up in His way. It's not something I do TO my children, but for them and with them.
Along with our family and church friends were some very special people attending to witness the baptisms ... Alyssa's biological mother, Lori, her brother, Chase and Chase's father, Mike as well as a special relative of Brandon's who we've known for some time, but just recently came to discover that they have blood ties! What a blessing for him to know his family! To have these wonderful people sharing this day with us was incredible. Three families, coming together, to share a moment so full of love, in God's house. I am truly blessed.
Until tomorrow,
Kathy ... Momma to five of God's most perfect creations
