OK OK OK! I get it! You don't like political stuff on my blog ... I appreciate your opinions! BUT, my blog, my opinions! ;-)
It IS more fun to post family and kid stories though, so here it goes!
This weekend was absolutely gorgeous here in St. Louis! We spent Saturday at Cousin Christopher's 2nd birthday party! We had so much fun meeting new friends, eating yummy cake and ice cream, and watching Christopher as he demonstrated his new 2-year old skills for all to see. Mommy and Daddy ... GOOD LUCK! 363 days left before #3! I continue to adore being an aunt! The exciting news is that Christopher is going to be a big brother in December! Kristie and Eric have officially announced that they are pregnant. Their first ultrasound will be tomorrow morning. I'm just giddy with excitement!
Sunday was spent out at the farm. As many of you know, my lovely eldest daughter challenges me with her poor choices and unique behaviors on a regular basis. I love her dearly, but am running out of appropriate punishments/forms of discipline that work for her. Thirteen is not a very pretty age in my house, apparently! Well, her recent smart mouth and poor performance in school bought her a day at the farm shoveling horse poop for Mrs. Yetter's compost pile out in the pasture. While she worked the day away, the rest of the Jones and Yetter kids spent their time chasing chickens, kissing goats, burying Alyssa in the sandbox, climbing trees and decorating the back patio and sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. I parked my backside in a very comfortable patio chair under a very shady tree and enjoyed adult conversation while I watched the kiddos play. I think the stench of poo made an impression on my daughter. Hopefully one that will last at least for another week while Boo the Horse has an opportunity to make more!
This morning was my appointment with my gyne/oncologist as well as my chemo day. The day was peppered with blessed news and sucky news. Good news first ... my CA-125 remains below normal and my blood counts looked good enough not to cancel chemo for today! YAY!!! Sucky news is that a new lymph node has "enlarged" in my right pelvic region. My doctor said that we will watch it, and if needed, we have options ... biopsy it, or simply remove it surgically and send it to pathology for a work up. Good news, my two other areas of tumors are decreasing at a very nice rate with the mass by my kidney showing signs of necrosis (which I assume is good seeing that means dying tissue ... assumably of the tumor, not the kidney!) I will be able to proceed with my kidney/bladder stent placement in the next couple of weeks which should help alleviate the hydronehprosis in my left kidney. My kidney function is still doing very well, following that little incident of acute renal failure we dealt with back in February. The other sucky news is that I have developed lymph edema in my left leg and a blood clot in my right leg. The lymph edema is not curable/treatable, but I'll take it over the cancer! What is it they said Hillary Clinton had with her leg edema? Cankles! That's it! I don't mind cankles if I can have more time with my kids! I will begin daily shots (at home) of Lovonox for the blood clot once I get approval for the "poor man" program with the pharmaceutical company. My nurse coordinator, Gina, is looking into getting me set up with that shortly. Without it, my shots (which I will have to take daily for months) run at 80 dollars PER SHOT! That's with my insurance footing part of the bill! Please pray I am able to qualify for the program! I am perfectly fine giving myself the shots (I used to do Mom's every morning, same shot, no biggie.)
So, enough medical junk. I hope to have some great pictures of the birthday party (hint hint, Aunt Kristie) and of our trip to the farm (hint hint, Mrs. Yetter!) to share with you in the next few days. I made the mistake of taking my camera without it's SD card! OOPS!
I hope you all are having a blessed week!
Until Tomorrow,
Kathy
