Know a Good Lawyer?

Ya know, there are times in one's life when it seems everything is crashing down around you. There are also times when things begin looking up, but some jerk has to screw it up all over again. Well, today I am dealing with a jerk ... a REALLY BIG JERK. My health insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield, has decided they don't want to pay for my surgery on Monday morning. They are refusing to precertify me claiming my condition (uterine cancer) is a pre-existing condition. Well, true, I HAVE had a uterus for, hmmm , let's see ... my entire life! So yes, my uterus is in fact, a pre-existing condition. So that must leave the cancer. I've had this health insurance since August of 07 ... about 7-8 months. In that time I have been hospitalized twice for profound anemia. After 4-5 months of fighting, the insurance company paid for the first hospitalization acknowledging that what I claimed was true, it was not a pre-existing condition, nor had I ever been treated for it, or any symptoms of it in my entire life. However, somehow THIS condition, cancer, was pre-existing. How many normal people (mind you, I don't claim to be any kind of normal, but I am the mother of 5 children who count on me to hang around for awhile) would purposefully exist knowing they had cancer and not seek treatment for it? HELLLLOOOO?????? So, now I am scheduled for a total hysterectomy on Monday morning that my insurance company won't pay for, that I certainly am unable to pay for and gosh darn it, I need it! I want this cancer OUT of my body. Anybody know a good lawyer who can work miracles in one business day? Then again, I know a good doctor who can work miracles in less time ... maybe I'm asking the wrong question of the wrong person. I'm off for a little quiet prayer time with The One who CAN help me. In the mean time, know a good lawyer?

Until Tomorrow,
Kathy

Hi Kathy, this is Kim (Michael Harper's wife). You have the great physician, you also have the great counselor, who will certainly intercede on your behalf. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ask or hope for. You need this surgery, your life depends on it. Everything else is unimportant at this time. I pray that God would give your His peace that passes all understanding. And, as you keep your mind stayed on HIM, HE will keep you in perfect peace. You have trusted him with your life, trust him with the financial part too. I will continue to pray for you. You have a great attitude, a great since of humer, and most of all, you have God on your side.

Kathy,

Ditto on what Kim said.

As for a lawyer, I don't know one in your area, but what might be cheaper and easier would be to call the TV stations with your "human interest" story that pits a single mother of 5 up against the big bad health insurance company. A health insurance company that, with your family history, should have known there was a definite chance for you to develop cancer, but they chose to insure you anyway... a lack of due diligence on their part, which should not be your problem.

You and your kids were worthy of a lot of press before... I'll bet you still are.

Love,

Aunt Jeane
