So many of you have asked about our potential move away from St. Louis. I decided to give you a brief update.
The kids and I have spent a couple of weekends in Illinois looking at different properties (just driving by) in different towns. Last Sunday we visited a small town just north of 70 on 55. Our realtor took us through a cute home just outside of town on 2.5 acres. The kids loved it, but I'm not sold yet. There would be a lot of work before the house would be to my satisfaction. I do like the town and am fond of the house and property. No decisions yet, so we're still looking around.
We want to stay close to St. Louis as we have family, friends and all of the kids' and my doctors and specialists here. My children also have birth family members who are important to us, and losing contact just isn't an option.
We haven't ruled out a Missouri property either. Real estate taxes are a lot cheaper here ... as are property prices in general. I simply like the idea of living closer to my mother's side of the family, and am also anticipating a future move of my sister and brother-in-law to the Illinois side. We have very good friends who are also planning a move across the river as well.
No matter what, our next move will be our last. We will move to a house on a small acreage where the kids can run and play. Nita wants barn cats and Isaac wants chickens. Nathan would be happy with a little corner to play in and Brandon wants room to ride his tricycle. Alyssa would love a little playhouse in the middle of the yard where she could have tea parties with the grasshoppers and ladybugs. I want to have a big porch where I can sit on my rocking chair, listen to the joyful sound of my children playing as I watch my garden grow. Is that asking too much?
I promise I will keep you updated with our plans. There is no urgency for us to move ... well, other than the house next door was robbed this morning!!! WAY too close to home! But that's another story for another day!
Until Tomorrow,
Kathy (windows barred, doors locked and 911 on speed dial ... sad)
