Just an FYI ... I spent the last 2 days in the hospital for a variety of reasons. My anemia is causing some troubles and controlling my pain has become a challenge. We took care of the anemia, but because of my lovely health insurance company and their stubborness my pain is yet to be treated. This is my chemo week, so I had the luxury of getting my chemo after 3 units of blood, while lying down in a brand-spanking new hospital bed at 3am in the morning! What a treat! ;-) Actually, the nurses were incredibly nice and inbetween vital checks I was able to catch a few zzz's that were much needed.
Somebody made a decision to donate blood ... and I benefitted from their generousity. This is the 3rd time in 2 years that I've had to have a transfusion. Strangers have saved my life 3 times now. I wish I could thank them. Since I can't, I'm just going to encourage all of you who are able to consider donating blood. Someday it may be you or somebody you love who needs it just like I did.
