Say WHAT? Oh, my tangled words!

Last Tuesday, a dear friend joined me for a fun-filled day of chemotherapy and radiation. Elly sat by my side while I underwent my 4 1/2 hours of chemo, then came along to MoBap for the joy of radiation. When we weren't talking about religion, politics, good food and at times just a whole-bunch-o-nothin', we were both engrossed in our word puzzles. I've always loved the simple seek-n-finds ... it runs in my blood ... Grandma Harper loved them too. But Elly's book of word games intrigued me. She was playing a word "puzzle" called Tanglewords. Let me tell you, this is a great mind game!

Elly gave me a copy of her game book just yesterday and I can't put the thing down! Tanglewords is a puzzle that incorporates a bit of seek-n-find, a tad of crossword, a smidgen of Scrabble and some Suduko thinking tossed in for good measure. You MUST try your hand at it. Just when you think you've solved the puzzle ... BAM! ... you realize you've got it all wrong. Thrilling for somebody who loves words! A terrible bore for those who prefer a game of Crash Bandicoot or rock climbing. Thank you, Elly, for a great challenge for this chemo brain!

Talking about words, I seem to be having difficulty finding the right words lately. I don't know if it's the chemo or just the stress of this illness and everything associated with it. I can't seem to call my children by their correct names. I tell them to tie their noses and blow their shoes. I walk into the kitchen to start dinner and have to figure out if it is in fact 6pm or 6am. Even the dog was confused when I tried to call him in the other day by yelling, "Brandon! Come here! Do ya wanna bone-ee-oo?" (My dog's name is Andre ... my son is Brandon.)

So dear friends, should you call me and I answer with, "Goodbye!" ... just know that I've not cracked and someday this will all go away ... right??????

My wish for you all is that you have a blessed holiday weekend and that you take a moment with your children and family to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day. We are truly blessed.

Until Tomorrow,
Kathy, I mean Andre, I mean Hildegard ... oh whatever! ;-)
